Leichter Tray
Leichter Tray: Will a Menorah or Candelabra Fit on It? The Leichter Tray from Ner Mitzvah is a silver plated tray for your Shabbos candelabra, candlesticks or Chanukah menorah. Leichter is Yiddish for candelabra. Four ornate legs lift it about 1.5 inches, and handles on the sides make it easy to move. It catches drips, so clean-up after Shabbos or Chanukah is simpler. Measure the base of your menorah or candelabra first. The tray is about 16.5 inches wide and 13.5 inches long, so the base needs to sit fully inside that area with room for drips. A menorah wider than about 16 inches will hang over the edge. Browse menorahs with the tray size in mind. How do you use a leichter tray on Chanukah? Place the tray on a stable surface by your lighting spot. Set the menorah in the center so drips land on the tray. Light, keep curtains and children away, and never leave it unattended. On Friday, light the menorah before the Shabbos candles. Customs differ, ask your Rav. When everything is cool, lift the tray by its handles to clean it.
