Product Details Brand Ner Mitzvah Material Wax Count 44 candles Diameter 5/16 inch (standard size) Colors Red, blue, green, yellow and purple Burn time More than 30 minutes Wick Single wick, minimal drips Why does the box hold exactly 44? A menorah lights one candle on the first night and adds one each night up to eight. That makes 36 candles, and a shamash each night adds 8 more, for 44. This box matches that count for one menorah. Homes with more menorahs need a box for each. Our guide to how many candles on a menorah shows the nightly math. Is a 30-minute candle long enough? The lights must burn at least half an hour after nightfall (Chabad.org Chanukah Guide). Ner Mitzvah designs these to burn more than 30 minutes, so they suit lighting at nightfall on weeknights. On Friday, the menorah is lit before the Shabbos candles and must last until half an hour after nightfall, so use longer candles or oil that night. Customs differ, ask your Rav.
