Avos DeRabbi Nassan is one of the minor tractates printed at the back of the Talmud. It runs parallel to Pirkei Avos. Where Pirkei Avos states a teaching in a line, Avos DeRabbi Nassan expands it. It adds explanation, further sayings and stories about the Tannaim. Anyone who learns Avos and wants to go further usually meets this work next. See our Pirkei Avos collection for the base text. Do You Need Hebrew to Use This Edition? No. This Artscroll edition is listed as English and Hebrew. The original text appears with English alongside it. That makes it usable for a reader who is comfortable in English and wants the Hebrew in front of him. It also suits someone learning with a chavrusa where one side is stronger in Hebrew than the other. Who Should Learn Avos DeRabbi Nassan? It fits anyone who already learns Pirkei Avos, especially over the summer months when Avos is said each Shabbos. It also suits a shul or yeshiva shiur looking for material with more body than the mishnayos alone. At 660 pages it is a sefer to work through rather than finish in a season.
