“What makes a lock Kosher?”

Well, in many Jewish communities there is no eruv, and it's forbidden to carry on Shabbos ... even a door key. What's the solution? Some people have designed their keys into jewelry or belt buckles. Another answer is to install a key-less door-lock.

Even though our community has an Eruv, with Bli Ayin Horah many people in our families, we don't have a key for everyone on Shabbos.

So it was time to get a key-less lock. It seemed like a great idea even for regular weekday use.

After a trip to the local hardware store you'll discover that all they have are electronic digital locks - which can't be used on Shabbos.

Specialty stores had some mechanical models, which mostly were only deadbolt locks. That meant the door doesn't lock when you close it, you have to remember to lock it manually from the outside every time you leave. No good for our-kind of houses.

  • Mechanical Key-less Entry - No Batteries!
  • Automatic Locking and Always Open settings
  • No Deadbolts
  • Simple Changing of Code as often as you like!
  • And it has a weatherproof Chrome and Zinc finish.
