Now available, the 2005 Passover Directory is an indispensable, accurate and up-to-date handbook which will help you determine which cosmetic products, over-the-counter and prescription medications, dietary supplements, and vitamins are kosher for Passover 2005. (The medication list applies to products distributed by U.S. companies only.) It also serves as a Pesach product guide. It is important to note that items Kosher L’Pesach last year may have been found unacceptable this year. Use the 2005 Guide for this year only.
Erev Pesach occurs on Shabbos, April 23, this year. The halachos exclusive to this day are discussed in the 2005 Directory, in Star-K’s article, “A Guide to Shabbos Erev Pesach”. It completely details everything from taanis bechorim and bedikas chometz on Thursday, to the burning of the chometz and seder preparations made on Friday, erev Shabbos, to the recommendations of how and when to eat the Shabbos meals, and, finally, to how we recite kiddush and havdalah at the seder.
The Star-K Comprehensive Information and Product Guide includes informative articles relating to the Pesach Kitchen, Matzos, Tevilas Keilim, the Selling of “Real” Chometz before Pesach and the Purchase of Chometz after Pesach, Seder Pointers, Kitniyos, Oven Kashrus: For Yom Tov Use, and ‘Sabbath Mode’ Appliances. It also lists Personal Care Chometz-Free Products, Pet Food, and the Latest Times for Eating & Biyur Chometz in major U.S. cities.
This unique work is a joint, not-for-profit project of Star-K Kosher Certification and Kollel Los Angeles. It is based on the extensive research Rabbi Gershon Bess conducts annually with pharmaceutical manufacturers. In addition to serving as Rav of Congregation Kehilas Yaakov in Los Angeles, Rabbi Bess is considered a world renowned expert on Passover medications. The Product Guide and informational articles are the result of the comprehensive halachaic analysis conducted by Star-K’s Kashrus Administrators.
